Harford Community College enjoys the distinction of a resident dance company, The Washington Ballet, that regularly performs at The Amoss Center with both their main company and their Studio Company, which features rising stars in the ballet’s ranks. Audiences have been treated to world premieres of new ballets and classic productions like this winter’s “Peter and the Wolf.” Over in the Chesapeake Theater space, audiences enjoy musical events like the recent Dave Samuels Quartet and more unique performances, such as the audience participation comedy “The Hilarious Hillbilly Massacre” from Phoenix Festival Theater, one of HCC’s most popular groups.

“I have been volunteering with Phoenix Festival Theater for five years, and each time I’m impressed with the quality of the performances, the variety of the shows and the people I get to meet who share my love of theater,” exclaims Marilyn Lewis. “There are shows for adults and children at reasonable prices, with fabulous actors and music that I don’t have to go to Baltimore or New York to see. Live theater is alive and well in Harford County thanks to Phoenix Festival Theater and HCC.”
It’s not a surprise given that HCC is dedicated to providing a diverse range of cultural opportunities for county residents. From Broadway shows to ballet, theater at HCC literally has something for everyone to enjoy.
