Compelling Theater

Theater for illustration only- not HCC

There’s nothing quite like an indulgent day at the salon or spa to make you feel spectacular! You go in drab and come out looking divine, and feeling even better. And in Harford County, our readers tell us there are two perfect places to feel fabulous: Color Lounge Salon & Spa in Hickory and Studio 221 Salon & Day Spa in Bel Air.

Color Lounge offers a complete salon experience, from a simple cut to a complete body makeover including hair color, nail care, facials, waxing, massage and even eyelash extensions. A soothing look makes the salon comfortable for everyone, and fresh baked cookies each day are worth the visit by themselves. But it’s the styling that keeps people coming back.

"Color really is an art and we pride ourselves on knowing how to get the ultimate color.:
–Clare Santiago, co-owner Color Lounge Salon & Spa

“I hardly ever go out without someone saying ‘I love your hair!’,” says Linda Williams of Jarrettsville. “I love Dan Tipton – I think he’s the best colorist around. I constantly get compliments on my hair. I always like to try something new and he almost always gets it right. He keeps my hair updated and looking good.”

“We focus on color,” says Clare Santiago, co-owner of Color Lounge. “We’re trying to bring the world of color to customers in front of their eyes, not in some secret room in back. It’s all about knowing how to mix the colors, how to look at a customer’s hair and see what they have. We have a color bar and we mix everything in front of the customer – it’s very hands on. We have color swatches they can see and try to get things right. Color really is an art and we pride ourselves on knowing how to get the ultimate color.

"We can be funky with things, to; we try to give people something different and chic. We like to be creative, and we like to do different – we don’t want to do the same style or copy things. We like to focus on multi-dimensional color that suits the customers’ needs and lifestyles. The salon is very unisex. A lot of men are going for color – the faux-hawk is getting a lot of color on the tips. We also do threading for facial hair, and bikini waxes for men and women.

"We’re really offering something different to Harford County. We try to bring a different vibe to the salon.”

Bev Adams of Fallston sums it up this way: “Color Lounge is very family oriented, there’s always someone from the family on site. They work very hard to please their customers. Their whole salon is updated and they really bring good things to the community.”

The other outstanding salon according to our readers is Studio 221 in Bel Air. Located across from the hospital, Studio 221 is a welcoming full service salon, offering not just an outstanding variety of cuts and color services, but also specialty services such as formal hair styling and the Bio Ionic Japanese Hair Straightening System. While Studio 221 has devoted fans for hair care, it’s their spa services that really get readers raving. Studio 221 has an amazing range of esthetic services, from facials to body treatments and more. But these aren’t just typical treatments! Options for facials include the usual European facial, but also include choices like the Bio Elements Facial for Rosacea or the Stress Solution Spa Facial. Body treatments include massage treatments like hot stone and deep tissue massage, and Reiki and Raindrop Therapy.

And the body treatments are truly outstanding. Consider the Chocolate Raspberry Body Scrub for a calorie free indulgence, the Arctic Algae Body Wrap to detoxify and stimulate the skin, or the Siddha Body Detoxification to revitalize your whole being.

Whichever salon you choose, our readers agree you’ll have a truly satisfying experience!
