Adopt A Pet: Adopt or Foster an animal- large or small

We all know about the Humane Society as a place to adopt a dog or cat. But you may not realize that there are many other organizations to help you adopt a variety of animals! A quick internet search will lead you to dozens of breed-specific rescues for dogs and other animals, or you might want to contact these local organizations dedicated to recycling a life – all are registered 501(c)3 non-profits that welcome your support!

Celtic Rein Equine Rescue & Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing abused, neglected and otherwise unwanted horses, as well as providing a safe sanctuary for those that are too old, infirm, or injured to be re-homed.  The rescue and sanctuary concentrates heavily on the needs of American Quarter Horses, but does not turn other horses in danger away if there is the space and funding in place to help.

Fallston Animal Rescue Movement, Inc., FARM’s, mission is to remove dogs and cats from local shelters on the day they are scheduled for euthanasia.  FARM also takes in many hard to place animals. All FARM animals are taken to the vet where they receive whatever care they need to make them healthy and adoptable. To date, FARM has rescued and found homes for over 3,000 animals.

Luna’s House, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of animals and their people. Luna’s House is comprised of a network of foster homes. Presently, Luna’s House routinely works with cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, mice, reptiles, birds, and additional small animals.

RERSI is an all breed horse rescue, that specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of foals and other young horses. Many of the horses that come into our rescue are byproducts of the woman's hormone Premarin, while others are rescued from slaughter buyers at local auction houses, or come straight from the racetrack. These young rescues are generally a clean slate. With the right adopter and training they can grow up to be wonderful competitive and pleasure horses.
