Disco fries delight
Diner lovers of the area, rejoice! There is a new diner in town, one that’s open 24-hours on the weekends and offers not just your traditional diner fare, but some exciting, unusual choices, too. Fallston Diner has taken over the defunct Denny’s location in Fallston, and they’ve spruced up the interior and put in full diner service. The chic new |
lighting makes the place cheery yet unpretentious while the leisurely service allows plenty of time to take in the scene. The menu spans the usual omelets and club sandwiches to include such tasty choices as Disco Fries – fries with cheese and brown gravy, Bison Burgers made with lean buffalo meat and real Egg Creams! Add in video jukeboxes to amuse the kiddies at select booths and you’ve got a place where the whole family can find something to love.

Have you noticed the recent Japanese invasion in Harford County? Not our usual beetles, but sushi places and Japanese restaurants – a far more welcome happening! One of the newest |
 |
places to open is Toki Sushi Japanese Restaurant, located near the Spenceola Antique Center. Toki Sushi offers a wide variety of lunch and dinner choices, including lunch specials that are a great bargain, traditional Japanese fare and, of course, sushi. The clean, minimalist décor is the perfect setting for sushi offerings both classic and new. Among the more interesting options are the Father & Son salmon and salmon roe sushi, the Pickle Radish and Pickle Squash rolls, the South Philly roll with crabstick, shrimp and cream cheese with smoked salmon, and the Chesapeake roll featuring fried oysters with real crabmeat.

Living in Maryland, we tend to go outside a bit more often. And if your version of outside involves hitting the slopes or cycling along the rails-to-trails pathways, you’ll be pleased to learn that Biketime/Snowtime has a new, larger location! The shop has moved to the Forest Hill Air Park, and now offers an even broader selection of bikes by Trek and other top manufacturers, along with all the accessories you’ll need. In the winter, the shop focuses on snow sports, with skis, snowboards, gear and equipment to turn even the most novice snow bunny into a pro.

One of the newest is Buy The Cup, a fantastic tiny little coffee shop tucked right in downtown Bel Air. Unlike the usual coffee vendors, Buy The Cup offers the standard lattes and specialty drinks with your choice of coffee! You can get Italian Roast, French Roast, Espresso Roast and more, making each cup exactly to your personal preference. And there’s a great selection of all natural, organic, fresh baked muffins and cookies from The Breadery that just demand a taste!

Winter is over, and swimsuit season is almost here. If you’re one of the many people who shudder at that thought, don’t worry, Sheritha Mckenzie and Bodies On Line
can help.
Bodies On Line is a Personal Fitness Center, offering one-on-one personal training geared to getting you in shape. Using strength and free weight training, Bodies On Line customizes an exercise plan for one hour, two times a week, and a diet and eating plan to help you reach your goals.
“We get results,” explains Sheritha, founder of Bodies On Line. “Typically clients who come to Bodies On Line lose about a pound per session, so your weight loss equates to the number of sessions you take. Diet and nutrition plans are based on three small meals a day – most people don’t eat three meals a day, they eat one or two. I believe diet is 80-90% of getting in shape so we stress that you have to eat right.”

|
She knows what she’s talking about, too. Not only has Sheritha been in business 17 years, she was a professional body builder for 24 years. She has over 100 body building titles to her credit, including winning the 1991 American Gladiator Championship for Baltimore City.
“Going into gyms and seeing people not getting anywhere motivated me to go into business,” she says. “People don’t have time to work out, but if you can give two hours a week to this you’re going to look great and notice that your body has definitely changed. We train your entire body in the hour that you’re there. It’s tough but it’s safe and we work you at the level you’re at – it’s all individual.”
